Steam Treatment for Bedbugs

Nov 15, 2022
The steam treatment is one of the most efficient and effective ways to combat bed bug infestations. This type of treatment will be widely used in pest management services. This is due to the fact that it has been repeatedly proven to be extremely effective. Not only does it kill pests on contact, but it can also go where other treatments cannot. Aside from that, there are numerous other advantages to using our professional steam treatment. However, it should be noted right away that the treatment has some drawbacks. Although it kills on contact, it has no residual effect, which means that what is missed lives another day. It's not like pesticides, where the initial treatment may be ineffective, but bugs may later come into contact with the substance and die. Even if the steam kills them instantly, they will live another day. Regardless, this is why it is critical to learn everything you can about the treatment. This will assist you in determining whether it is the best option for you, your family, and your property.

How does steam eliminate Bed Bugs?

This is the first question that everyone has when it comes to bed bug treatments. It is completely understandable, as it is natural to be curious about how the treatment works. You are unlikely to trust the treatment if you do not understand how it kills the pest. In theory, steam is quite simple. It makes use of a system that generates high-pressure/high-heat vapor that kills bugs on contact. It is simply misted into suspected infected areas and then goes to work killing everything in its path. Another factor that contributes to the efficacy of this treatment is its adaptability. Steam treatment not only kills bed bugs, but also a slew of other crawling pests. Cockroaches, fleas, and mites, steam will quickly eliminate these troublesome insects. Many people have attempted to kill bed bugs with clothes steamers; some have succeeded, while others have failed. This is due to the fact that the steam produced by these traditional steamers was not always hot enough to completely eradicate. This may result in the infestation spreading further throughout the house. Not what you want to happen! Steamers, on the other hand, are extremely effective at reaching behind baseboards, wallpaper, wall decorations, in electrical outlets, on clothes, on furniture, and a variety of other materials and locations where other treatments would be ineffective.

Finding the right solutions, on the other hand, isn't always simple. Fortunately, this is yet another area where steam treatment has proven to be effective. There are no chemicals or pesticides used in the treatment. It's almost entirely water that has been converted into steam. Residents can return to the cleansed property immediately because there are no lingering residual effects.

One of the best aspects of steam is that it is environmentally friendly. Many of our clients are concerned about becoming ill or causing environmental damage. This is something we completely understand. As a result, we will offer environmentally friendly solutions to our clients. One of our most popular Eco-friendly treatments is steam. Some customers believe they can rent a steamer and solve the problem themselves. Although it is possible, it is not recommended in most cases. You risk damaging something if you don't know what can be treated and where the treatment can be applied. We're talking about extremely hot steam here, which can damage delicate, heat-sensitive items. Not only that, but you must know where and how to apply the treatment. If you do it incorrectly, you risk spreading the infestation to other parts of the property.

Precautions on using a steamer

While steam is efficient, it can be dangerous. If you decide to use a steamer be sure to follow this precautions:

  • Because the steam is under pressure, you must exercise caution when refilling the machine and using the steam wand.
  • The steam will be extremely hot, reaching temperatures of 212-230°F. This can result in burns, so never use the steamer with children and always direct the steam away from yourself.
  • Always test steam on an unnoticed area first, as some fabrics may be damaged.
  • Always steam microfiber fabrics in the direction of the microfiber.
  • Steamers will occasionally spit out hot water when turned on or after not using steam for a while. When you first start, point the wand at a towel to capture this water.
  • Use a nozzle that distributes steam at lower pressures, such as a floor or upholstery attachment, rather than a pin-point steam nozzle. Bed bugs can be blown away with pin point nozzles, and they may survive.
